How To Wear Jewelry, To Statement Or Not To Statement?

I love jewelry. They are like the sprinkles on ice cream or the glitter on a birthday card! It can be subtle or bold. But their purpose is to compliment, show effort, and give the defining completeness to the outfit. And today we’re going to talk about statement pieces.

You know I love a classic statement necklace and earrings. But the other accessories that can also help an outfit are pieces such as a classy bracelet, a pair of pearl studs or gold hoops, and even a few boho gold rings that add a little character. Most of us have a few of these in a jewelry box that maybe just needs dug up and rediscovered. But, if you’re looking for a new piece or something specific my favorite places to shop are Kohl’s, Target, SHEIN, and Amazon. I also love custom pieces from small businesses;

And speaking of small businesses, today I am featuring an awesome small business Sage Beading Co. run by Grace Hackbusch, where she sells beautiful handmade jewelry, Everything from earrings to necklaces, to bracelets. She also does custom orders and especially has an eye for color. I was gifted this gorgeous pair of drop earrings that were a blend of yellow, black, and white. They are so lightweight as well! I’ve linked her Etsy shop here! If you haven’t checked it out before I highly recommend her work. You can use code “Shantel10” for a discount too.

Okay so let’s talk about how I wear my jewelry.

Here’s a little method to my jewelry madness. Simple + Busy= Perfect, —– Simple + Simple= Great, —— Busy + Busy= To Much

A busier top means a simple necklace. However a simple top can be worn with either a simple necklace OR a statement necklace.

And as for earrings I wear statement earrings for either option. Because most earrings are away from your neckline I believe you can rock them with 95% of most outfits. This is the type of fashion move that you have to just play around with yourself, and find your groove with styling an outfit! I believe bracelets are much the same as well as rings. If you’d like to know how to mix metals and color tones in jewelry I have a post HERE.

While I love my jewelry, and how I wear it, if this all sounds a little too confusing and you want a versatile recommendation, then you can never go wrong with the classics. A gold necklace and small gold hoops are a basic classy look that never goes out of style. A silver necklace with faux crystal studs is also a terrific option as well.

Here’s a slew of different ways I pair my jewelry together. I hope it gives a little help as well, and some inspiration! If you have any questions, leave a comment below or send me an email! I love hearing from you!

xoxo, Shantel
